Website for therapists and psychologists

Tell it how you work — your approach, what you help with, in person or online — and createforme builds the website in a few minutes: the issues you work with explained in plain words, how the first session works, who you are with your registration or licence number, your fees and a form to request a first appointment. No reviews and no promises, as professional ethics codes ask.

What a therapist’s website needs

Your clients’ words, not the textbook’s

People looking for a therapist type “anxiety”, “can’t sleep”, “feel stuck”, not “generalised anxiety disorder”. Explaining what you help with in their words makes them feel understood before they even get in touch.

The first session, without fear

The highest barrier is the first step. Saying how long the first session lasts, what happens, what it costs and that no preparation is needed takes away much of the anxiety of booking it.

Who you are, with a face

A photo of you, your training and your registration number build more trust than any slogan — and they’re exactly what regulators expect you to state openly.

Fees written down

Many people don’t get in touch because they fear the cost. Clear fees, and whether you offer sliding-scale places or accept insurance, bring enquiries from people who can actually start.

In person and online

If you also see clients by video call, say so upfront: it widens your reach to people who don’t live nearby and those who’d rather start from home.

What to know before you publish

No client testimonials

In the US, the APA Ethics Code (standard 5.05) says psychologists don’t solicit testimonials from current therapy clients or anyone vulnerable to undue influence, and many state boards and counselling codes go further. In the UK, the BACP and HCPC ask that your advertising is accurate and never exploits clients. The safest choice, and the example’s: no testimonials on the site at all.

Health data in the form

People writing to you may share something about their health. Under the UK GDPR that’s special category data, needing a clear privacy notice and a lawful basis; in the US, HIPAA may apply to your practice. Ask only for what you need to get back to them, and leave the rest for the session.

Protected titles and registration

In the UK, titles such as “clinical psychologist” and “counselling psychologist” are protected and require HCPC registration; in the US, “psychologist” requires a state licence. Show your registration or licence number so anyone can check it.

This is general information, not legal advice: for your situation, ask a professional or your regulator.

How it works, in three steps

  1. Describe your business in the box above, typing or out loud, the way you would to a customer.
  2. Watch the site take shape in a few minutes, and edit it by clicking on what you want to change: text, photos, colours.
  3. Publish when it’s ready, with a paid plan: you can create and preview your first site for free.

Questions

Can clients book online from the site?

The site collects the request — in person or online, which times suit — and it arrives in your inbox. You set the appointment by replying: there’s no calendar that books itself.

Can I write articles?

Yes: ask for an articles section and write them in your own words. They help readers and help you be found on Google for the issues you work with.

What if a client leaves me a Google review?

You don’t control that, and it’s a different matter. The ethics rules are about your own material: don’t quote testimonials on your site, not even unsolicited ones.

How much does it cost?

You can create and preview your first site for free. To publish it you need a plan: with Starter, €22.90 a month, the site lives at an address like yourname.createforme.io. Your own domain is included in the Agency plan.
